Billyford rolls back the years

Champion Jockey Johnny Murtagh completed a double at Dundalk this evening when steering the Liam Roche trained Billyford to a deserved win in the [email protected] Rated Race.

Billyford had been off the track for over three years until returning to action this season and indeed his previous win was gained at this venue in 2008 when he defeated subsequent Ebor winner Dirar.

Afterwards Roche said “Billyford is back to something like himself, having been off the track for three years.

“He’s been showing a bit of spark at home recently and that was an encouraging run last time out. Hopefully the handicapper won’t be too hard on him now and we’ll come back here soon. He loved the surface and might go to Kempton over the winter too.”
