Trainer Enda Bolger endured an unusually quiet spell at the albeit curtailed Punchestown Festival recently but did manage one win for 'the week' when his On The Fringe (7/4f) landed the rescheduled Racing Post Champion Hunters Chase at the venue today.

Ridden by John Thomas McNamara, the gelding stayed on strongly in the straight to comfortably beat That Beats Banaher

Bolger, without a racecourse winner for 152 days, later said “On The Fringe will continue to mix it between cross-country and hunter chases - he got a stone bruise when he was over at Cheltenham and that is why he didn't run there.

“He is still a relatively fresh horse and should make up into a nice La Touche horse in time as he is good at the banks.”

Fifteen year old veteran Whyso Mayo winner of the 2006 Cheltenham Foxhunters Chase, ended his career in the race but took his bow a little earlier than planned, unseating his rider at an early fence.
