Jockey Kevin Brouder had a winning first ride for Eric McNamara at Limerick today as he steered the trainer's Alfred Wegener to a 25/1 upset when landing the Follow Limerick On Facebook Handicap Hurdle.

Afterwards McNamara said “the shower or rain that came was a huge help to him and we were waiting for a place where the ground wasn't too quick. He worked so well the other morning that I said to Tim Duggan (owner) that we should take a chance and run him if we get the rain. It was the best bit of work he ever did for us and I was anxious to take the chance.

“He'll go for something similar in a few weeks time next.

“It was Kevin's first ride for me and he was in to us a couple of days last week.”
