Call The Taxie bridged a seven months gap between runs when completing a double at Navan today as the Ellmarie Holden trained gelding landed the Emerald Facility Services Beginners Chase on chase debut, under jockey Rachael Blackmore.

The son of Scorpion was the second horse today, following Mengli Khan in the opener, to overcome of a seven month absence and win, having also won his previous start, a maiden hurdle, at Thurles in February.

In today’s race, Call The Taxie and Blackmore had to work to get past leader Bel Ami De Sivola after the third last and from there the pair maintained a clear lead to eventually beat A Sizing Network with Bel Ami De Sivola fading to finish third.

Afterwards Holden stated “we were worried about the ground as we thought he wanted it slower, and Rachael gave him a super ride.

“I’m a bit surprised as I was expecting him to run well but not win like that. He should improve a lot from that run. We’ll take our time as he has a long winter ahead of him.”
