The curtain on Derby weekend at the Curragh was, oddly enough, brought down by a former Cheltenham winner, with gallant veteran Captain Cee Bee (6/1) winning the concluding Foleys Antiques European Breeders Fund Handicap.

The 11 year old, winner of the 2008 Supreme Novices Hurdle, was produced today by Fran Berry to lead a furlong out, before staying on strongly in the closing stages for a seven lengths win over Sky Pilot

Winning trainer Eddie Harty was thrilled after the success and later reported “class is permanent - he is something else!

“He'll probably go back hurdling now and we will look at the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary next.”
