Cass Bligh and Ruby strike

Ruby Walsh conjured up a great jump at the last from 8/1 shot Cass Bligh on his way to winning the two mile handicap hurdle at Leopardstown.

The Adrian Murray-trained seven-year-old only took up the running at the final flight from long-time leader Cothrom Na Feinne and was kept up to his work to score by three-parts-of-a-length from the staying on Citizenship (10/1). Scottish Boogie came home in third place at 4/1 having been backed at 11/1 in the morning. Reizovic was returned as 7/4 market leader but disappointed in fifth. He had been backed at 3s when the race was first priced up.

Cass Bligh had fallen on his chasing debut last time but relished the return to the smaller obstacles.

Afterwards Adrian Murray commented: “Really he’s a spring or autumn horse as he doesn’t want real winter ground. He may go for the big handicap hurdle here next month. I have ten horses riding out at the moment in the yard.”
