Rory Cleary teamed up with his father Tom to claim the five-furlong handicap at Tipperary with Landline

The three-year-old had previously been owned by Jackie Bolger and trained by Brendan Duke. He raced off a mark of 45 this afternoon having been rated as high as 74 as a juvenile.

Cleary sat in behind the leaders before making ground up two furlongs from home on the 12/1 shot.

He hit the front over a furlong out and kept on strongly in the closing stages to post a convincing two-and-three-quarter length success over 7/2 favourite Free To Roam

"He got it at last and I was afraid the ground would be too soft for him. He showed little bits of form earlier in the year and when we put him into heavy ground before it seemed too much,” said the winning trainer.

"Yesterday I was undecided whether or not I'd declare him but I had a chat with my brother-in-law Mattie O'Toole and he said why not, it's getting to the end of the season and to declare him. I did, so it paid off!"

"It's nice to get a win into him and it's my first winner this year and hopefully we might get another couple before the end of the season."
