The Aidan O'Brien-trained Vermilion Cliffs had to work to land the odds in the first division of the ten furlong maiden at Dundalk this evening.

The Ballydoyle colt was sent to post a 5/6 shot having been narrowly denied on his debut at Leopardstown six days ago.

Seamie Heffernan tracked the leaders on the Galileo colt and asked him for an effort passing the two pole.

He soon drifted slightly right but was straightened up to challenge inside the final furlong and was on top in the last 100 yards to record a neck success over Bluebeard's Castle

Heffernan said:- “He’s very little done racing and galloping so there could be plenty of pots in him.

“He’s green but has a likeable attitude and he handled the surface well.”
