Cloughmile edges thriller for in-form Hourigan

The Irish Racing Yearbook Handicap Chase at Gowran Park produced a thrilling finish with Cloughmile just edging things in the closing stages.

Michael Hourigan 's charge and Last Time D'albain both moved through to challenge at the third last and had it between them at the next.

There was nothing to split the pair at the final fence but Cloughmile gained a narrow advantage on the run-in and held on grimly to score by half a length at the line under Adrian Heskin.

It continued a good spell for trainer Hourigan, who saddled a double at Cork on Wednesday.

"She ran well at Limerick last time when she just got stopped in her tracks. I thought she might have won that day," said Hourigan.

"She'll go for a race in Clonmel in a couple of weeks time."

The runner-up had attracted some support this morning from 25/1 into 8/1 and was eventually sent off a 10/1 shot.

Eddie O'Connell, rider of Onzo Mor was found guilty of disobeying the starter and handed a one-day ban.
