Condon conjures charge from Accord

Accord Aris powered home on the run-in to land the spoils in the opening Sean Graham Bookmakers Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick.

Noel Meade 's charge blundered at the second last but recovered his composure to launch a challenge after the last.

Davy Condon drove his mount to the front in the closing stages to score by a length from Mr Dazza

11/10 favourite Tango Foxtrot had faded out of it after being headed at the final flight by the runner-up.

"He was tough on him but had to be. He really wants a good bit further," said Meade.

"Maybe it was the change of noseband. He's the first horse in 30 years from Tu Va to run without a noseband!"

"He stays well and we'll probably go over fences sooner rather than later. We might try him in a handicap before that."
