Crack Mome got his jumping career off to a successful start when justifying prohibitive odds in the Clonmel Maiden Hurdle.

The French import won a three-year-old bumper on his only previous start, and was sent off at 30/100 on his first outing for Willie Mullins.

Ruby Walsh never had the Spanish Moon gelding too far from the pace set by Ornua and he was shaken up to lead approaching the final flight.

Nearest rival Blast Of Koeman fell when appearing held about a length down at the last, leaving the hot-pot to come home three and a quarter lengths clear of Coquine d’Aunou.

Long-time leader Ornua, a point-to-point winner in October, was a further four and three quarter lengths back in third.

Boylesports leave Crack Mome unchanged at 14/1 for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

Mullins said, "It was a very good performance from that guy and I'm really happy with the way he jumped out of that ground as Ruby said it was proper soft. That will bode well for the future.

"The minimum trip is enough for him and I don't think he'll have to go much further. Ruby also passed a remark that he was very green, so I'm hoping there will be improvement all round."
