Cumani and Berry get a Curtain Call at the Curragh

Curtain Call returned to the Curragh where he was involved in a dramatic Irish Derby last season to put things right in the Group 3 Mooresbridge Stakes on Sunday afternoon.

The four-year-old by Sadler's Wells was a former Jessica Harrington inmate now trained by Luca Cumani in Britain made a very much satifactory seasonal bow when seeing off Dermot Weld's Famous Name by three-lengths.

Cumani later quipped, "Thankfully there was no interferance today and no need for the stewards to get involved!"

The delighted winning trainer continued, "He did it well. We didn't want to make the running but that was Plan B if there was nothing else to make it. We wanted to sit in behind because he has a good turn of foot.

"I am happy to start the season off with him like that and I hope I do a better job then I did with him last season. We will keep him to good ground or softer and we will go wherever it rains - so quite possibly back to Ireland then!"

Cumani concluded, "Fran gave him a peach he did the perfect job out in front and you could call him a winner a long way out."
