Dactik asserted in the closing stages to record back-to-back victories at Fairyhouse.

Noel Brett 's charge had been an impressive winner here ten days ago and it proved a similar story today.

Davy Russell moved up to challenge two out on the 9/2 shot and he hit the front going to the final flight.

The Diktat gelding powered clear on the run-in to record a three-and-a-quarter length victory. Underdefloorboards who had cut out the running, kept on gamely to claim the runner-up spot. Mister First who had chased the winner home last time, was sent off the 3/1 favourite in a competitive heat but could only finish fourth.

"They went no pace early on but he's done it well," said Brett.

"It was a surprise when he won the last day and I suppose you could say he's turned the corner.

"He's not entered again soon so we'll see what the handicapper does."
