Danzerini became the third winning favourite in as many races at Limerick this evening as he took the Kanyu Tree Playing Live 22nd June Maiden for his trainer Mick Halford with Shane Foley in the saddle.

The gelded 3yo son of Bernardini was sent off the 3/10 favourite to win this seven furlong contest after running well on his debut earlier this month, finishing third behind Hi Emperor at Fairyhouse.

Having tracked the leaders in third in the early stages, he moved into second in the straight. He came with his challenge and led over a furlong and a half from home.

He kept on well under pressure from there to score by a length and a quarter from the second favourite at 5/1 Paene Magnus for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning. Crystal Harmony was a further length and three parts back in third under Niall McCullagh for Patrick Prendergast at 12/1.

Winning trainer Mick Halford said afterwards: "That was great. He was a lot more settled today than he was in Fairyhouse. He has improved since Fairyhouse.

"We will see what the handicapper does with him now. He is a lovely big scopey horse with a lovely pedigree. He would probably prefer the ground even quicker again.

"We will take babysteps with him."

The winner went unsold at $135,000 US dollars at Keeneland back in September of 2010 but he was sold as a 2yo for 195,000 Guineas at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale in April of last year.
