Trainer Henry De Bromhead made his first venture to Downpatrick races today a doubley successful one, as his Marinero easily justified 4/6f in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Chase, to win for owner Michael O’Leary (Gigginstown House Stud) and jockey Bryan Cooper.

The son of Presenting jumped well when making virtually all for his easy win and following the race De Bromhead, earlier successful with Show And Go declared "I had never been up here before today, it's great and is my new favourite racecourse!”

He added “he (Marinero) jumped great and Bryan gave him a super ride as usual. He looked like he really enjoyed himself today and I'd say the further the better for him - two and a half in Killarney I probably called it wrong. He ran really well there and was great today.

"I'll speak to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary) and he'll go for a novice now. There's the 2m6f in Punchestown in November which feels a bit far away but I'll speak to Michael but we'll definitely go for a novice."
