Cerveza Dinero bounced back to form as he took the second division of the Limerick GAA Handicap Hurdle for trainer/jockey Denis Hogan.

The 8yo son of Karinga Bay won his maiden hurdle for Charlie Swan (when ridden by Denis Hogan) at Tipperary in August of 2009 at Cork.

Six runs after that he won a 3m handicap hurdle at Bellewstown in August of last year dead-heating with Ahorsecalledmolly.

Since that victory he has run seven times and mixed it between hurdles and fences. His last run came at Kilbeggan earlier this month where he finished fifth behind Liberty Counsel in a handicap chase.

Carrying 11-8 this afternoon the gelding, who is owned by the Winonesoon Syndicate, raced in behind the leaders early on.

He progressed to dispute the lead with Renoyr and Ben Dalton as they rounded the home turn. However that one made mistakes at both the second last and last while the winner jumped them much more fluently and he asserted on the run-in to score by three and a half lengths.

Renoyr had to settle for second at 10/1 for Liz Doyle while Serra Nova was further three and three parts of a length back in third under Brian O’Connell at 6/1.

First reserves Lady Sunshine (20/1) ran well to take fourth, a further three and a quarter lengths back under Mark Bolger for John O’Shea while the 4/1 favourite Dunroe Boy disappointed finishing along way behind in eleventh.

Denis Hogan said afterwards: "He is getting older and wiser, he is very clever. He just needs things to go his way in races. He thrives off racing and he will go for a 3m Handicap Hurdle at Cork on Friday."

Hogan was recording his first training/riding success since Inis Meain scored at Thurles in February for him.
