Connections are hopeful that Discorama can defy his big weight in Sunday's Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan on Sunday.

The six-year-old ran a cracker in the four-miler at Cheltenham last season when just losing out to Le Breuil.

Despite a gruelling race there he went on to chase home Delta Work in Grade 1 company at Punchestown the following month.

The Saddler Maker gelding was also second on his comeback effort at Wexford last month, a track that James Nolan, brother and assistant of trainer Paul, says didn't play to his strengths:-

“He came back from his summer break great. You'd be always worried after the tough race last year in Cheltenham.

“When he came to Punchestown he showed that he's a very very tough horse. It's a Saddler Maker thing, they have a great make up that way.

“They are very genuine racehorses and they are very tough.

“He came back great. I wasn't pushed about him running in Wexford but we said going to those big races, whether it be Newbury or Navan, a run is nice to have and takes the pressure off a trainer.

“There was a nice time frame between it. Wexford wouldn't have suited him at all and the ground wasn't as bad as the official description, it dried out on the day.

“He ran a grand race on a track that didn't suit him.

“We're looking forward to Sunday, we think Navan is probably the most ideal racecourse in the world for the horse so hopefully that proves to be the case.

“Obviously he's got a big weight, and a lot of weight to give away, but he has that weight for a reason and we are very happy with him.”
