Definite Doyenne spread-eagled her rivals in the concluding mile handicap at Cork this afternoon to spring a 20/1 shock.

Danny Sheehy produced his mount with a strong surge to lead two furlongs from home and she soon kicked clear.

The Philip Rothwell-trained filly ran on inside the final furlong to record a five-and-a-half-length success.

The daughter of Doyen had been well held in three maidens at Dundalk over the winter and was making her handicap debut today off a mark of 50.

"She'll run in another handicap at Naas next weekend and after having a summer break, will eventually go juvenile hurdling as she was well schooled over hurdles as a two year old,” said Rothwell.

When asked was he expecting her to win (50s to 20/1 on track), he answered "Yes.", before adding "I liked her from the time we broke her and she likes soft ground.

"I bred her and still have her dam (who is an unraced half-sister to Definite Article) who I bought so so cheaply at the sales a couple of years ago after a friend recommended her to me. She is a lovely one to have!"
