Amateur rider James Ridley received a 28-day ban for mistaking the Newbury finish line and dropping his hands to ultimately finish third in the BJP Insurance Brokers Open Hunters' Chase today.

Ridley aboard Lookslikerainted, appeared to have the near three miler in safe keeping after nearest pursuer Duke Of Lucca unseated rider at the final fence and the jockey could be seen patting his mount on the neck and celebrating with a clench of the fist.

However, the race was far from over and Ridley seemed to mistake the half furlong marker for the line and eased his mount right down. Strides before the actual finishing post 100/30 shot Triangular and Ballytober (9/1) flew past the helpless Lookslikerainted to land the jockey in trouble with the stewards.
