Ducky Mallon gained a seventh career success for his adoring owner, breeder and trainer Donal Kinsella at Fairyhouse today, as the seven year old grey gelding landed the Membership Now On Sale Apprentice Handicap (div 2) under jockey Daniel Redmond.

The son of Jeremy gained his first win at Gowran in 2015 and has won twice every year since, and was today following up a win at Leopardstown last month.

Kinsella later said “he's such a gentleman at home and he's such brilliant athlete when he comes to the races.

“I asked him (Redmond) not to go for him suddenly and to step up the pace once he saw the straight and to slowly step up the pace.

“He did and he was basically increasing his pace right up until the death. The jockey did as he was asked.

“I bred him myself and Handsome Maverick is his half-brother, who was very unlucky in the last race (when a close third), so we almost had a double.

“There is a six (furlongs race) in Cork for this lad on October 3rd and he'll definitely go for that.”
