Dantes King landed the spoils in an action packed two-and-a-half mile beginners chase at Down Royal.

Andrew McNamara took the mount as trainer Gordon Elliott recorded a double at the track, following the opening race victory of Time To Work

The King's Theatre gelding took over the running from long-time leader High Desert before the second last. Kildare Blowin looked a threat but cried enough before the last where High Desert crashed out.

Dantes King stayed on well to record a three-length victory.

2/1 favourite El Fontan crashed out three from home when in contention while Awkward Moment was under pressure when falling two out.

"I'm delighted to get that win for (owner) Chris Jones. That's his first horse," revealed Elliott.

"Better ground will suit this horse and he might go for a handicap chase at Fairyhouse next."
