Enter The Red showed his love for rain-softened ground as he powered away from his rivals to land the six furlong apprentice handicap in Fairyhouse.

The seven-year-old gelding raced in third, close to the pace set by Chillie Billie and Hatton Cross

Tom Madden switched him out from the rail at the two pole and the pair soon moved into second as they pursued Chillie Billie.

Enter The Red overcame the leader approaching the furlong marker and strode away to deliver by two and a half lengths. He went off the 5/1 favourite.

Hatton Cross kept on to get up for second on the line at 8/1. Chillie Billie (7/1) had to settle for third.

Handler Aidan Howard said: "He deserved it. I was half afraid that he wasn't actually staying six so when I came today I told him to take his time and cod him along.

“He ended up in front a furlong out. In Listowel when he hit the front he idled but today he was good and sweet and galloped to the line.

“We'll maybe go to the Curragh for the last meeting as he likes it there. Hopefully whoever rides him there will take their time.”

This was Enter The Red's fourth career victory - two successes on soft and one on yielding to soft to go with today's on soft to heavy.
