The 11yo Our Eric (12/1) battled on well under Robbie Colgan to take the feature race at Roscommon this evening the Leo Dolan Memorial Handicap Hurdle for trainer Cecil Ross.

The son of Tidaro disappointed last time out in a novice chase at Kilbeggan where he pulled up in the race won by Dazzling Susie.

Before that he finished a decent fifth in a handicap hurdle at Listowel just over four lengths behind Victrix Gale.

Back over hurdles this evening he closed into fifth approaching the straight and soon challenged the leader Boland’s Corner.

He got on terms with that fellow at the last and kept on best on the run-in to score by three lengths at the line.

The well backed Boland's Corner (11/2 into 4/1), who attempted to make all, finished second while Duroob was a further two and a half lengths back in third at 12/1.

Winning trainer Cecil Ross said afterwards: "If he didn’t run in Kilbeggan his Listowel run would have left him with a right chance as he wasn’t beaten far by Victrix Gale.

"He will be kept hurdling now. He needs that trip and a good cut in the ground."

Our Eric was recording his sixth career victory this evening having won a point-to-point and now five races on the track over hurdles.
