Fakir gained a second win on very testing ground conditions at Gowran today as the Gigginstown House Stud owned, Joseph O'Brien trained gelding landed the Auto Boland Jaguar & Land Rover Handicap Hurdle under 7lbs claiming jockey Oakley Brown.

The French bred son of Day Flight was a winner on Limerick's demanding soft to heavy ground on December 29 and today again showed that heavy-ground ability when comfortably beating Baily Thunder by 11 lengths.

Trainer O'Brien later commented “in that ground they drop away as the race goes on and this horse was handling it.

“He won obviously in Limerick at Christmas time so we thought he would handle it and he got a good ride.

“He unseated the last day in Down Royal but he won impressively there and he'll be up in grade after that.”
