Trainer Gavin Cromwell has confirmed that Cheltenham Stayers Hurdle winner Flooring Porter will bid for a big festival double in the Grade1 Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle at next week’s Punchestown Festival.

Flooring Porter is owned by a four-man syndicate that includes a flooring contractor and a publican. They are obviously more than happy to have bought him at a very affordable price.

Said Cromwell this week: "The timing is right. He was never really going to go to Aintree.

"Obviously he had a hard race in Cheltenham. He wears his heart on his sleeve but he's come home fine and he's freshened up great and we're looking forward to Punchestown now.

"He was unsold in Goffs on the second day of the Land Rover Sale and I had no owner for him and we had a few horses for sale and we put them up on facebook.

"The lads contacted me and came down and bought the horse.

"It's not going to happen very often but I mean he cost five grand - you wouldn't think it possible to buy a Cheltenham winner for that sort of money - it's great."
