Fred The Foot stayed on best close home to land the spoils in the Lisronagh Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.

John McConnell 's charge was sent off 2/1 favourite to follow up on his success at Down Royal late last month.

He was produced to dispute turning for home in the three-miler with Na Trachtalai Abu but Donie McInerney's mount fluffed the last.

The Scorpion gelding rallied well to get on top close home and secure a length-and-a-half success. The Ballyboys finished well to just grab the runner-up spot by a nose from Na Trachtalai Abu.
