Bainne ran out a good winner of the TRM Supporting Global Champions Handicap scoring under Shane Kelly on just her second start for Michael O'Callaghan.

A three time winner for Charlie Swan in 2013 the five-year-old daughter of Strategic Prince disappointed in the UK when trained by Jeremy Gask and James Eustace.

She was bought for just 5,000 sterling at Brightwells in February and ran a fine race to finish fourth on her first start for new connections at Navan last month.

That Navan effort was over five furlongs and stepped up to six today she came through to lead 100 yards out before going on to win by two lengths in the colours of Noel Hayes. Battleroftheboyne who beat the winner at Navan, finished second under Gary Carroll for Michael Mulvany at 13/2 while Archibald Thorburn was a short head back in third under Leigh Roche Aidan Howard at 25/1. Dark Alliance was sent off the well-supported 3/1 favourite (was 7/1 last night) but he could only manage sixth under Shane Foley for Mick Halford.

The winner was 4/1 last night but proved friendless with punters and went off a 7/1 chance.

Michael O'Callaghan said afterwards: "Fair play to Shane who gave her a great ride. She looked boxed in and he did well to get her out. She's a nice type for those sprint handicaps and will should be a real fun horse.

"She lost her way a bit in England and came to me around February time. She had a nice first run back, and I'm delighted the way she has progressed."
