Wayne Lordan put the seal on his Winter Series Jockeys' Championship when steering the David Wachman trained Queenscliff to land a substantial gamble (7/1 in the morning into 5/2 sp favourite) in the Irish News Boot Room Handicap at Dundalk this evening.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer proved much better than her rating to easily defeat Samollie Afterwards Wachman said “Queenscliff is a bit of a slow learner and has taken a while to come to hand.

“However, she has done that well and hopefully there will be more to come from her as the season goes on.”

The win moved Lordan two winners clear of his nearest rival (Kevin Manning on 11 winners) in the Winter Jockeys' Championship and the Group 1 winning rider later said "this (Series) has kept us ticking over during the winter – there were three of us in with a chance of winning tonight so it is nice to come out on top."
