The €100,000 Goffs Thyestes Chase is the highlight on a seven race card at Gowran Park this afternoon with the action getting underway at 1.15pm.

The going remains soft to heavy at the Co. Kilkenny track following 4mm of rain overnight.

The weather forecast is for showers to clear giving a mainly dry day.

The 'Thyestes' is scheduled for 3.15pm with a maximum field of 18 runners headed by Vesper Bell one of four representatives from the yard of champion trainer Willie Mullins.

The open nature of the big race is exemplified by best odds available of 8/1 about market leaders Los Amigos and Vesper Bell.

Meanwhile the ground at Leopardstown is drying out prior to their two-day meeting this weekend.

The going is currently described as yielding on the chase course and yielding (good final two furlongs) on the hurdle course after just 1mm of rain overnight.

The Foxrock venue hosts the Boylesports.com Hurdle on Saturday, while Hurricane Fly is due to renew rivalry with Jezki and Our Conor in the BHP Insurance Irish Champion Hurdle on Sunday.
