One time 2,000 Guineas hopeful Glor Na Mara again disappointed at Dundalk this evening, failing by half a length to the Tom Hogan trained Gordon Lord Byron (14/1) in the Follow Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Maiden.
Glor Na Mara raced prominently and while he looked a likely winner in the straight, found far less that Gordon Lord Byron (under Wayne Lordan) inside the final furlong, eventually failing by half a length.
Afterwards Hogan stated “Gordon Lord Byron just can’t handle soft ground. At Listowel the last day, he hated the ground, but he still wasn’t beaten that far.
“He should make up into a nice sprinter next year and I’m delighted for his owners, the Cahalans, as they bought him as a foal but he then failed to sell as a yearling. They’ve had a lot of patience and it has paid off. There’s a six furlong handicap in a few weeks time that we’ll come back for.”
