Grecian Tiger justified his short price with the minimum of fuss when getting off the mark over timber in the John J Galvin Maiden Hurdle at Listowel.

Ruby Walsh made all on the 4/5 shot and he skipped a few lengths clear turning for home in the two-and-a-half mile contest.

The Dermot Weld-trained gelding kept on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length success over Hows Patsy

The winner was making his fourth start over hurdles and had won a Flat maiden and a bumper in the past.

"I wanted to use his stride and his jumping, and Mr Weld was happy to go with that plan. He won with a bit in hand," said Walsh afterwards.
