Green finally fulfills promise

China Goes Green sprang a 25/1 shock in the Paulstown Handicap Chase at Gowran Park on his first start for Jim Dreaper.

The Luso gelding had proved a disappointing sort in the past but a wind op seems to have done the trick.

Andrew Lynch produced him with a well-timed effort to lead on the run-in and record a length-and-a-half victory over Tiernan's Terror

"He had been a disappointing horse and was with Henry De Bromhead and Philip Hobbs previously," said Dreaper.

"They both told me that he's a lovely horse who jumps great but had been very disappointing.

"We had him scoped with a DR scope by Liam Sharp in Lisadell Equine Hospital.

"What happens is that the rider gets on with a backpack and a tube comes out of that which goes in the horse's nostrils. Then he is ridden.

"They found the problem and operated on him for his wind. If definitely helped.

"This was unexpected today so I've no real plans. We'll reassess things now."
