Robbie Hennessy was on the mark for the first time since September 2017 when Dylrow caused a 20/1 surprise in the Racing Again January 27th Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse.
Well-backed favourite At Your Ease (15/8 into 6/4) was chancy with his jumping and eventually pulled up before the the seventh.
All eyes then turned to original market-leader Grotesque (2/1) but he couldn't raise his effort from two out and it was left to Dylrow's fellow outsider My Manekineko (33/1) to chase home.
James Nash 's charge finished off well but he was still a length and three parts off the Hennessy runner at the line.
Andrew Lynch rode Dylrow, previously victorious in a Naas handicap hurdle in February 2017.
“It was a bit of a surprise to be honest,” said Hennessy.
“The last day he ran in Tramore the ground was horrible and Andrew said he appreciated the good ground today.
“He's a fine big horse but he just has his days and we caught him on a good day today.
“I was half thinking of not running because of the ground but in fairness to Andrew he said 'let him take his chance'.
“I suppose when the rain comes it's going to be difficult to win in this country.
“We'll put him in a handicap and see what the handicapper gives him. He can't be too hard on him because that was for horses rated 116 or less over hurdles so he's not going to hammer him.
“Id say we'll put him in a handicap somewhere in the next two weeks before the rain comes because when it comes it will come.
“That's the first time those colours are in my name in the winner's enclosure. The first of many hopefully.
“My father died two years last November. I've no Rubi Light or Sublimity anymore because I haven't got the funds he had!
“It would be harder to buy them nowadays, it's getting very difficult. The amount of money they are spending is crazy but sure we'll tip away with what we have.
“I've only a couple in. The licence is up in February and I probably won't renew it. We had great days with my father but now I've no interest in training for anyone else.
“I might just renew the licence for the couple that I have or else I have Dermot McLoughlin there local to me and he could take over, I'll see.”
G.N. Fox, rider of Biddy The Boss trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel in running.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined At Your Ease, trained by A.L.T.Moore, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at his nostrils post race.
The Stewards requested a report from Robert Alan Hennessy, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Dylrow, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge appeared to appreciate both the drop back in trip and more favourable ground conditions and felt a combination of both, had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
