Ancient Highway galloped on strongly in the closing stages to claim the Club Deise Handicap Hurdle at Tramore for Pat Fahy.

The 6/1 shot was close up with leader Rock On Bach throughout the 2m5f contest and kicked on running for the second last.

He always looked in control from there as Cadawill came through to give chase. The verdict was three-lengths at the line.

The winner had flattened out after trying to make ground up from the rear at Tipperary last time.

Winning jockey David Mullins said afterwards:-

"He had a lot of nice runs in them lesser 0-95 races.

"Everything went his way today, he is just a bit slow and a bit lazy but when everything goes his way he is actually an alright horse.

"I had one ride for Pat before and he pulled up so I owed him that one!"
