Hogan on the mark with Drive On Jim

The progeny of Alderbrook go well on testing ground and Drive On Jim was another son of the 1995 Champion Hurdler to excel on a heavy surface as he landed the Freeman Keane Associates Handicap Steeplchase at Limerick.

The victorious 12/1 chance led entering the straight under his trainer and rider Denis Hogan and he stayed on well to comfortably account for Long Strand by eleven lengths.

Hogan said: "He came to life lately and his wind was very good today. He was nicely enough handicapped but he is even better handicapped over hurdles (90 over fences and 84 over flights) and he'll probably go back for a hurdle now. He won a handicap hurdle around here before."
