In-foal and well bought Timeforwest bagged the featured Grade 3 Betway Chase at Cork today as the Peter Fahey trained mare won in the colours of the Sport Racing Club, whose prolific winner Micko's Dream was also successful at today's fixture in 1998.
Bought for GBP12,500 last August, the seven year old mare today, under jockey Donagh Meyler, defeated the Willie Mullins trained even money favourite and 159 rated Killultagh Vic into second place, despite meeting that rival 24lbs 'wrong' at their respective weights.
Afterwards Fahey stated "she was scanned in foal to Getaway on Friday and there were horses in today's race that weren't running to their form and my biggest worry was Westerner Point who was always running to his form. She (Timeforwest) is improving away and if she alright she'll go for the mares' chase at Punchestown on the Thursday.
"She'll stay running during the summer and she has a nice mark over hurdles and she could now get into the Galway Plate. She gets as far as Galway and we'll try and nick some more black-type with her.
"Cathal Ennis picked her out in the sales last August in Doncaster after winning five races for Jonjo O'Neill and she is a lovely filly. The syndicate have her leased off Cathal and it's great for them. They had a winner here 21 years ago with Micko's Dream who won the same race and they're lapping this up."
Micko's Dream gained his first jumps win at Cork in April 1998, beating one Limestone Lad into fifth place in a maiden hurdle, before later progressing to win a Grade 1 over fences and the Thyestes Chase in a career which yielded 14 wins.
