Tony Martin confirmed ante-post favourite Quick Jack firmly on track for the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket on Saturday week.

The five-year-old chestnut is at the head of most bookmakers' lists after he stormed three lengths clear in a two-mile handicap at the Galway Festival in July.

Quick Jack is a talented dual-purpose performer and has already shown his aptitude for marathon trips on the Flat ahead of the second leg of the autumn double.

Martin is, however, hoping the recent dry spell gives way to plenty of showers before the big day.

The County Meath handler said: "That (Cesarewitch) is the plan at this stage.

"The intention is to come over for the Cesarewitch and hopefully he'll get that juice in the ground which he likes."
