Dallas Des Pictons won on his debut over fences in the concluding Join Gowran Park Racing Club Beginners Chase as only two of the six that set out completed the course.

A drifter from 1/3 to 4/9, Dallas Des Pictons was opposed in the market by Advantage Point (5/2 into 15/8).

However any value in the form of the two and a quarter miler was likely rendered worthless when Advantage Point and The Shunter both departed at the final fence with a circuit to race.

Dallas Des Pictons then had Our Big Red (33/1) and Boston Hill (33/1) for company.

The Jack Kennedy-ridden winner was very slow four out but had a loose horse from there home to help as he easily accounted for Our Big Red by twenty lengths.

Boston Hill was making no impression after four out and fell at the next.

Winning trainer Gordon Elliott said: “Jack said when he was on his own in front he was looking around him. At Cheltenham he cantered till he got to the front and then pulled up when he got there.

“He’s a horse that would be better with a lead, and we knew that when Eddie Harty’s horse (Advantage Point) fell it was a disaster.

“We have a lot of novice chasers and we’ll split them up. He’s better than that and will be better with a lead but it’s job done.”
