Newcomer Kalisma took the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld and the Aga Khan.

Second in the early stages she soon improved to dispute and led from the two furlong pole.

She soon went a few lengths clear and was ridden, keeping on well inside the final furlong to score by a length and three parts.

Stable companion Waitaki (33/1) was a big eye-catcher as she kept on well down the outer to take second under Leigh Roche while the easy to back Lady Lambert (returned 33/1, was 10/1 this morning) was a further length and a half back in fourth under Shane Foley for Mick Halford.

Ceol Na Ghra was sent off the 6/4 favourite and she finished a disappointing sixth under Kevin Manning for Jim Bolger.

The winning Cape Cross filly is a half-sister to Kaleefa, who won a Roscommon maiden for the yard back in May. Their dam, Kalarouna, is a half-sister to the great Kalanisi.

Dermot Weld said afterwards: "She is a nice filly and has been working very nicely. If she runs again it will be in the Silken Glider over a mile at the Curragh (on October 11th).

"Either she will run there or Zalfana, who won at the Curragh last month. She wants a mile now and will make into a lovely three-year-old.

"I was very pleased with the second filly. She ran a good race and will probably go for a maiden in a few weeks' time, maybe at Leopardstown."

STEWARDS REPORTS

K.J. Manning, rider of Ceol An Ghra trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was badly struck into behind in running.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Ceol An Ghra, trained by J. S. Bolger, at the request of the Stewards and confirmed that the filly had been struck into on her left hind.
