Shanooan and Connor King delivered at 14/1 for George Kent in the fillies’ handicap over a mile in the Curragh.

The three-year-old filly tracked Maremmadiavola before challenging her for the lead a furlong and a half out. King drove her home inside the final furlong and she had enough in the tank to repel fast-finishing Sretaw (7/1) by three parts of a length. Photo Call at 9/1 was two and a quarter lengths adrift in third. Sea Coast the 7/2 favourite, finished fifth.

George Kent said: “That’s the first winner under my own licence. It’s nice to get it here. It has been lucky for us here, we won the Group 3 on this card here two years ago with Custom Cut.

“She likes the straight mile and things fell right for her. Connor gave her a lovely ride. He didn’t disappoint her and kept things simple. She loves that ground being American bred.”

Connor King added: “She’s been running consistently all along. The big galloping track suited her. I’m delighted to get the ride on her. She likes to keep it simple.”
