Killiney Court put in a fine round of jumping from the front to take the On Course Vets Beginners Chase at Ballinrobe.

Mikey Fogarty sent the 100/30 chance to the front before the second fence, and had built up a sizeable lead before halfway in this 2m3f event.

The advantage was greatly reduced before the penultimate fence but the son of King’s Theatre powered away again from that point.

The Colm Murphy-trained gelding came home on a tight rein to beat Dancing Duke by nine lengths, with The Herds Garden another seven and a half lengths away in third.

The 4/5 favourite New Kid In Town could find no extra before two out to finish a disappointing fifth.

Murphy said, "It's nice to win with him again and we'll see what mark he gets now.

"He'll probably run next in a novice handicap chase, and I'll try to keep away from level-weights novices."

Fogarty said, “Colm just said to get him settled and he got into a great rhythm. I got a breather into him at the back of the fourth last.

"I don’t think real winter heavy ground suits him but he’s won there today like there may be another day in him.”
