King rules in Cork

A trip to the Open meeting at Cheltenham next month is on the cards for King High after the Eoin Doyle-trained gelding took the featured Follow Us On Twitter Kinsale Handicap Chase at Cork in tremendous style.

The seven-year-old gelding (easy to back at 13/2) cruised to the front at the second last, and Shay Barry was continually looking over his shoulder for non-existent dangers as the partnership came home a facile five lengths clear of Majestic Oak (10/1).

Top-weight Scotsirish the 11/4 favourite, plugged on in the straight to finish another three and three quarters of a length back in third.

Doyle said, “He did it well and the first time blinkers helped him to concentrate as he idled a bit last time at Gowran. I knew he'd come on a bit from the run at Gowran.

“We'll try to find something for him at Cheltenham next month as the lads (B A Syndicate from Piltown and Mooncoin) are keen to go.”
