Kingston & Gray get a welcome winner

George Kingston (his first winner since March 2009) and Stephen Gray (his first success in Ireland since February 2010) enjoyed a welcome success when Ros Brin ran out a convincing victor of the Home Of The Irish National Novice Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

The successful daughter of Brian Boru was cheered home by the layers too with the dominant pair in the market, Give Us A Hand and Killiney Castle failing to live up to their market billings.

Ros Brin stayed on well in the testing conditions to beat the front-running Liszt by fourteen lengths.

Gray said: "I had a spell in Australia where I had three winners but I'm back here since September. I'm delighted to ride a winner for George, he's been a great supporter of mine since I started riding."

Ros Brin certainly had the form to get involved here and the fact that her stable-companion Emily O ran second in a bumper at Naas on Sunday showed that the yard was in reasonable form. (GC & EM)
