Lady Kaya is to drop back to six furlongs for her next outing in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 29.

Sheila Lavery’s filly looked sure to win the Moyglare Stud Stakes on Sunday when she cruised to the front, but appeared to be outstayed by smart winner Skitter Scatter.

That was over seven furlongs, the same distance she tackled on her previous two outings, including a 10-length win at the Curragh, but her handler is keen to drop in trip.

“The Cheveley Park is still on the agenda, so we’re working towards that,” said Lavery.

“She came out of the race great. I haven’t done anything with her since, obviously, but she looks good, so touch wood the Cheveley Park will be the next stop.

“The difference now is that she’s jumping on the bit much quicker than in her first few races, although she can be a bit slow out of the stalls.

“People were ringing to buy her earlier in the season, but they now know she’s not for sale, I think, luckily for me.

“She’s a big, scopey filly and anything she did this year was a bonus, she’s only beginning to wake up.”
