On his second jumps start Wolf Prince justified odds-on favouritism with ease in the Alternative Christmas Party Day 11th January 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Johnny Moore took over on the 9/10 shot from two out and Gavin Cromwell’s charge was quickly in control.

The ex-Amy Murphy runner made a mistake at the last but that did little to impede his momentum as last month’s Punchestown third placer went on to account for Top Line Tommy and Instant Return by fourteen lengths and a short head.

“On ratings and the way he ran the last day I suppose he was entitled to win. He got through the ground fine," said Cromwell.

“He idled a bit going down to the last and had a look at it but other than that it was straight forward.

“He could go for the Grade 2 at Leopardstown or we may wait for a winners’ race. You never know with these juveniles and we’ll see where he takes us.”
