The Dundalk Stadium - Light Up Your Night Handicap at Dundalk this evening will pass without much notice but the race featured an excellent ride from winning jockey Bill Lee who steered the head-strong Mount McLeod to a maiden win.

The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor had looked a difficult ride in her 15 previous races but Lee managed to get the filly somewhat settled today behind the leaders.

Entering the straight, the filly moved into a challenging position, moving to the front inside the final furlong before holding the late challenge of Whatyoumaycallit

Winning trainer Pat Flynn later reported “Mount McLeod has been knocking on the door in England and this was a nice race for her tonight. I was a bit concerned about the trip as seven furlongs is her 'max' and she was too free early on today. Hopefully she'll be running here over six furlongs next time.”
