Fairly Legal was well backed on course and rewarded his supporters with a very easy success in the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase at Navan.

The Robert Tyner-trained gelding went to post a 5/2 shot having been punted from 7/2.

Mark Walsh 's mount travelled well to led at the third last flight and despite getting a bit close at the next was soon in total control.

The Beneficial gelding was big and bold at the last and cruised to an eased down four-and-three-quarter length win.

Easy to back 2/1 favorite Shanroe Al C (5/4 in the morning) won the battle for second.

Owner JP McManus was on hand to welcome back his winner and Tyner said:-

“He jumped a bit fresh the last day (when fourth at Naas) but he was better today. He obviously came on from the run and won well.

“He showed promise as a young horse but had a few setbacks and we had to take our time with him. He looked to be back to his best there today.

“He handles that ground and we’ll find something for him.”
