Bargain buy Lucky Road recorded a hat-trick at Bellewstown tonight as trainer Gavin Cromwell doubled up on the card.

The Salutino gelding had been successful at Sligo and Killarney last month and was back in the winners enclosure in the Tote Backing Your Team Handicap Hurdle.

Jonathan Moore was on board tonight and produced the 5/1 shot to lead three from home and he stayed on best in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length win over 9/10 favourite Walking On Glass

“That was great. We gave him a little break after Killarney and he obviously done well for it,” said Cromwell.

“I thought he had a place chance coming here, I thought the handicapper had had his say. In fairness he's after improving with the break.

“The owners (Lucky Seven Syndicate) are all local enough and as you can see they are all delighted. It's a great initiative this syndicates race.

“He's only a handy little horse but he's been a great servant. I bought him at the August sale last year and he only cost €3,000.

“Peaches And Cream came from the same sale and I only gave €1,200 for him. Both are by Salutino who wouldn't be that well known.”

Cromwell and Moore had also teamed up to score with Flooring Porter in the opener.
