Magic Wand is all set for her latest globetrotting assignment this weekend when she will run in the Saudi Cup.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained mare will be having her sixth consecutive start outside of Ireland, and was last seen finishing runner-up in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park in Florida for the second time.

Her other assignments of late have included the Melbourne Cup and Hong Kong Cup, and on Saturday she will break new ground, as she tries a dirt surface for the first time.

Reporting all to be well with the daughter of Galileo before the world’s most valuable race, O’Brien said on Thursday: “Magic Wand seems to be in good form and she cantered on the track for the first time this morning.

“Pat Keating, our travelling head man, and Yvonne (Zurcher) who rode Magic Wand, were very happy with her.

“She seems to love travelling and everything seems good.”

Magic Wand has been drawn in stall 12 from 14 runners, and will be ridden by Ryan Moore.
