Marathon trip pays off for Harleys

The eight hour journey to Killarney for Donegal trainer Shaun Harley paid off when Belle Noverre landed the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Claiming Race under the handler's brother, Martin.

Part of a double for Shaun when she scored a couple of runs back under Johnny Fahy at Hamilton, the daughter of Noverre led about a furlong down here and she stayed on well to see off the staying-on Maal by a length and a half.

Shaun commented of the Lough Derg Syndicate's well-backed scorer (6s into 9/2): "We fancied her big time. She just seemed to have turned the corner lately."

Belle Noverre has now won two races for connections having been claimed out of a similar event at Ballinrobe. She was then trained by Jim Bolger for whom she won two also.

There were no claims for any of the runners.
